The Great Lee County Debacle of 2023
Last December, Lee County pushed their “America-First’ slate of candidates for leadership of the county Republican Party, past the finish line. And, within 2 months, nearly every member of the team that created the slate, realized that they had a problem. Something happened on the way to the 2nd floor of Pinebrook Plaza. Ego and ‘Personal Glory-Story’ took over. They forgot that they were chosen to create a party machine that was returned to the proper control… by the Precinct Committeemen and Women in Lee County, deliberating and directing the board. They have now violated nearly all of the “America-First” Platform which I helped to co-author. See the platform at the end of the article.
With over 40% of the members petitioning for a Special Meeting to entertain motions for removal from the board, for the chair, vice chair, and secretary. They have tried everything in the book to retain their power and control, shy of a mea culpa, and changing their ways.
Now comes before us, William “Stafford” Jones, the former longtime chairman of the Alachua County Republican Executive Committee. He is the chairman of two nonprofits, which have been accused of illegally giving over $1 million each to campaigns in 2018. Reporting varies on the number of PACs he controls. One source notes that 43 are active, 45 closed, and 5 of them have been ‘revoked’. Some say it’s in the ninety-something range. Um… how many PACs do I need to push my agenda??? One. Anything over ten is just garish (and compensating?).
The following are not the opinions of this author, but are the opinions of fellow REC members from FL, which were sent to me.
From a FL REC member on a Signal Chat:
“I've been looking into Stafford Jones. He's the one managing the dark PAC money for the establishment and using it to destroy grassroots candidates throughout the state. If you receive a mailer both good for the establishment and bad for the patriot, he's likely running the PACs for both. Currently runs over 90 different PACs and many more in the past. He's been doing it for decades and there are several articles against him. Even been brought up on charges but always dismissed because of his connections.”
From yet another FL REC member:
“I remember meeting him at the the quarterly RPOF meeting last February. We sat with each other, during one of the votes. I made a comment, “an establishment take”. He made a comment to me that I didn’t know what I was speaking of. So, I said “I say it like I see it”. He got up and moved away from me. I’m looking forward to meeting him next Wednesday. Again.
Is Stafford a Republicrat or a Demican?
Regardless of what he is, it has been argued that he’s not in it for the idealism, the conservatism, the Constitutionality, but for the money. Now, I’m not going to label (or libel), but what do you call someone who cheats or tricks someone by gaining their trust and persuading them to believe something that is not true, in order to get someone’s money?
Laura Loomer’s Investigations of Dark PAC Money
Get a closer look at the images from her tweet here:
There’s also this Tweet put out by Laura Loomer, where Stafford was confronted for his behavior in Duval County, recently…
Reputational Harm
Ironically, the Rules Committee (Chaired by Stafford) added a new rule that members can be removed for causing the REC/RPOF “Reputational Harm”, with no definition of that subjective term. If Laura’s investigation is proven true, and Stafford has, in fact, funded democrat candidates and causes, as an RPOF office holder, has he violated the rule that he himself created? Or, did he envision using that rule only to go after whistleblowers, who expose a few rotten apple’s bad behavior? You know… the people who are actually trying to protect the party’s reputation, and agenda?! This is the behavior of tyrants, not statesmen.
Now, even if you believe Stafford is the strongest of Republicans, who wasn’t funding democrat candidates and issues, does he skirt state statutes, in order to make his money? Some people think so. You decide…
And, if all of this is true, is Stafford in possession of any moral high ground to come to Lee County this Wednesday, and preach to us about the true interpretation of the rules, which clearly do not say what he is trying to claim that they say? I say do your own homework. Use your God-Given discernment, and listen closely to what he says on Wednesday, and closer to what he doesn’t say. No matter what, you’re going to need a big bag of popcorn (and hip-waders).
Intentionally Ambiguous, or “Rules For Thee and Not For Me”
Are the RPOF Rules written in an ambiguous fashion on purpose? If so, could one interpret them one way, one day, for one friend, and differently, another day, for an adversary?
The RPOF has long held that CMC Art. IV, Sect. 1, para. 2, which says “Officer elections held at the organizational meetings are final and are not subject to recall”, refers to not questioning the results after that meeting has adjourned. That if you see an irregularity, you must raise it at that meeting, or forever hold your peace. And yet, this past December, in Stafford’s own Alachua County Debacle, when the “America-First” candidate for Chairman won by two votes, the results of the election were thrown out a few days later, in violation of this rule. Then they violated CMC Art. IV, Sect. 1, para. 1, which says “…shall, within thirty (30) days after the committee members take office (December 1), call an organizational meeting for the purpose of electing officers.”, by scheduling a ‘redo’ election in January. Rules for thee, and not for me. Similar problems occurred in Sarasota’s board elections, as mentioned in this article…
But, now they’re redefining the meaning of that rule to pretend that you can’t remove a chair, when they did exactly that in Stafford’s own county. Talk about the hypocrisy. And, then for the same players from Sarasota and Alachua to come down to Lee to preach to us on how to interpret and follow the rules… it’s downright offensive.
Joshua 1:8 NIV
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Now, clearly Joshua was not referring to the Rules of the Republican Party, but the sentiment still carries. Follow the law or be an abomination.
Threats of Removal Against Anyone Who Speaks Truth
There have been rumors of threats made by the Lee Board, against anyone who attends the properly called Special Meeting on Dec 2, claiming that to attend is a violation of your oath. Absurd. The only violation was committed by the board, by refusing to properly call that meeting with 10-day Notice. A removable offense.
Use your discernment, and realize that this is nothing more than the last act of desperation, by a tyrannical board, hell-bent on proving their totalitarianism, by threatening to remove well over half of the REC Members, who simply recognize that there is a big problem with the behavior of this current board. We cannot weather another day of this “Me-First”, “Personal Glory-Story Seeking” board, who makes every decision based on how it will further their personal growth, rather than furthering the conservative values we hold dear.
This desperation only serves to prove the future intent of this board. “The beatings will continue, until morale improves”. I say “Live not in fear”. This is the time for strength and bravery. Perhaps your last chance to maintain the rule of law, rather than of man. Anyone afraid to attend the Special Meeting, due to hollow threats, perhaps should consider resigning from the REC, and just join a club. Your duty is to direct the board, not be led by the nose.
1 John 4:18 NIV
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Where do we go from here?
If the RPOF somehow saves this Board from removal, they will both be damaged by this process. The RPOF will have shown their true colors, and the Lee board will be neutered like a lame-duck administration, who couldn’t survive on their own. This may be exactly what the RPOF wants. 67 dictators, not chairs.
Remember, this will set up a permanent situation whereby any bad chair can’t be removed, unless the RPOF agrees, and any good chair can’t be kept, if the RPOF dislikes them. No matter how effective they are, or how much the Committee wants them.
If this board remains, as is, they will have a difficult time getting anything accomplished, even if they change their ways. We have reached “irreconcilable differences” levels. The trust factor is broken.
We are facing the most existential election of our lifetimes, and have done nothing to prepare for it. And, the first thing we must accomplish is extricating the Republican Party from the Uniparty system. Without that, we stand no chance at stopping, or slowing, the Great Reset.
Stafford Jones is a cancer within the Republican Party and has been for years. He is not as smart as Patrick Bainter, who keeps himself out of the public eye. Jones is like the bank robber who gets away with 100 bank heists - he’s become arrogant and sloppy and is walking confidently down the middle of the street because he’s so confident he will never be held accountable. Same attitude as most of the political consultants around the state. So we know what Jones is. The real question is why would RPOF Chair, Christian Ziegler, stuff Jones in a key position on the Rules Committee? I think it’s clear that despite all of Ziegler’s big talk, he’s another Republican Establishment hack. Recently Ziegler was caught sending out polls to Republicans around the state under his personal business, One Click Poll. So Ziegler, as CHAIR, is having the RPOF use his BUSINESS and getting paid by the RPOF ---- talk about an opportunist! You know that Bible verse, “Avoid all appearances of evil..?” The Republican Establishment in Florida is shoving appearances of evil in our faces all over the state and asking us to turn a blind eye and just be happy the Republicans are in the majority. We AMERICA FIRST Republicans are the REAL REPUBLICANS and we will never stop fighting these bloodsucking Establishment posers. There is NO RECONCILIATION between America First and the Establishment. In the words of Michael Corleone: “This is my offer... NOTHING.” I will NEVER concede my Party to the Establishment.
“A Republican political committee called the Better Leadership Fund, operated by Alachua County Republican State Committeeman William “Stafford” Jones who is the organization’s registered agent, has spent untold thousands of dollars on mailers attacking grassroots Republican candidates for office.” https://www.citizensdefendingfreedom.com/post/exposed-dark-money-gop-organizations-spending-money-against-republican-candidates-in-jacksonville
